Since its inception in 1989, Rescate has been a registered non-profit organization that has dedicated itself to the protection and restoration of the country’s unique biodiversity.

Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center is comprised of three main centers that serve different purposes to promote wildlife conservation efforts. These centers are:
- Wildlife Rehabilitation Center: This center is state-of-the-art and focuses on providing medical care and rehabilitation services to wild animals that have been injured, orphaned, or displaced due to human activities or natural disasters. The center admits over 2,700 animals annually, which include a wide variety of species such as sloths, jaguars, monkeys, tapirs, pumas, coyotes, birds, small mammals, and reptiles. The main objective of the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center is to provide care for these animals until they are healthy enough to be released back into their natural habitat.
- Endangered Wildlife Breeding Center: This center is dedicated to the breeding and conservation of endangered species. Approximately 800 of the animals rescued at the center each year cannot be released due to health or behavioral reasons. These non-releasable animals are provided with lifetime sanctuary in the Endangered Wildlife Breeding Center, where they have an opportunity to contribute to the survival of their species through the successful breeding and release of offspring. This center focuses on the breeding and conservation of endangered species, and it plays a vital role in promoting the survival of these species.
- Lifetime Animal Sanctuary: This center provides lifetime sanctuary to non-releasable wildlife of more common species. The sanctuary is called the Conservation Park Sanctuary, and it is home to more than 125 species of animals, including birds, mammals, and reptiles.
